How to condense space around the Forum title and post/filter CORE

I'm not sure if something has changed or if I just never noticed, but there is a lot of space below my forum title and descriptions; almost to the point the threads are below the "fold" on smaller screens. I'm guessing this is because the Post / Mark Read, and Filter buttons are all on separate lines on the right side, and with a pretty large amount of padding.

How can I condense these? Or move them up onto 1 or 2 lines instead of 4?

Not sure how but I ended up posting this in XF 1 support, it is version 2 that I'm working with.

Please move the thread if possible.
