How to have an avatar in this (Pixelexit)forum?

Uploading is successful but the avatar is not appearing.

I think you misunderstood. I don't have to use any directory here on this forum.
Account > Personal details > Avatar Click the image to change your avatar > Browse > Delete current avatar? > Okay

We have some cache on the site which can cause some issues occasionally, glad it's sorted.
