Mobile Optimisation - tap touch target sizes ?

Google Mobile optimisations keep reporting at https://testmysite.withgoogle.com/intl/en-gb/ that my site's tap touch target size needs correcting and I found suggestions for html at http://www.bbc.co.uk/guidelines/futuremedia/accessibility/mobile/design/touch-target-size & https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/insights/SizeTapTargetsAppropriately

but how to best implement this for FlatAwesome+ styles ?

Mainly padding around links, more padding will allow for larger link area.
