Swap out default XF avatar for FontAwesome image ?

Curious if it's possible to swap out the default XF avatar individual image references for a FontAwesome icon ? i.e. http://fontawesome.io/icon/user/

I'm assuming you're trying for the sake of removing those calls for the images? I think you'd need to approach it from an add-on level. I'm sure some CSS could achieve the end effect but it would take a lot of tinkering with the various sizes. I know there's s/m/l but XF also uses CSS to reduce the size of even those sizes.

Ah i see.. thought it would be pure css know-how which is why I asked
