According to Firebug that is what it's called.

This is happens with closed threads. As you can see it can be difficult on the eyes.

How can I fix this? Also, will it affect other areas, I am not sure about that aspect.

Do an ACP search for:

xb_thread_alerts_dt

You'll be able to set a color there
