I've just installed and have a few preliminary questions.

First question: Although I've set the style as my default and unchecked all the others, they still show up in the style chooser.

Manages your sidebar blocks, if you have no need for it just follow the instructions to install without it

I've just installed the Events calendar and have a bit of a glitch with some overlapping buttons.

I think this is a design issue. How can I fix this?

Russ, the text seems a tad too muted. I like the look of it, but it might be difficult on the eyes to read a lot of text. Where would I enhance it?

Appearance -> Color Palette,

Specifically contentText, muted/faint/dimmed Text color

If it's a specific area let me know, but in general those properties control the bulk of the text through out the forum.

Does the Proxima Nova Bold font come with the ADARA package? Just wondering because it's kind of expensive to buy.

No, probably a poor choice on my end to use that font on the PSD file, it's linked to my adobe account. Need edits done?
